ALSER has implemented the different parts of the process under the same digital platform. This tool permits data transfer and subsequent technical decision-making, and also decisions on quantities and costs.

Production control through a Digital Manager

The Digital Manager is used to control traceability: production order, quality control and final technical datasheets. All under the same unified platform for the entire plant. This tool permits data transfer and subsequent technical decision-making, and also decisions on quantities and costs.

Depending on the type of polymer and its condition on arrival, it will go through different processes such as separation, shredding, sorting by density, mixing / homogenization. Other cases require the creation of customised formulations to meet the requirements of the polymer defined by the customer and its final application.

During the extrusion and compounding processes, the new polymer state is created, ensuring this processability with the correct control of temperatures, filtering, cutting, packaging, etc.

Customised production

ALSER has a large production capacity in tons/year. The company boasts specialised polymer processing lines in order to offer an extensive range of high quality products. It also has different production process lines (single screw, double screw), different filtering systems (depending on end customer requirements), underwater cutting, and minimum contact with a high reduction in moisture content in the end pellet.

Mention should also be made of the initial preparatory stages prior to the formulation, adding and mixing. All directed at forming, to a greater or lesser extent, the final characterisation of the polymer (https://www.plasticosalser.com/en/products/). Right from the outset, one of this company’s major aims has been to grow quantitatively and technically. To do so, its market positioning strategy is based on innovation and on offering solutions to address the new challenges for recycling and compound.

The trajectory of ALSER, which started out in 1977, cannot be understood without considering the technological progress, the new knowledge of polymers and the resolution of problems and subsequent applicability in processing companies. For this purpose, ALSER’s work went beyond normal sales requirements, focussing on adopting a supportive role and helping customers in a little-known market, by first guiding them towards the virtues and then towards the needs of applying raw materials that represent an alternative to virgin materials.

Packaging and logistics

Each customer sets his own requirements for the supply of the different polymers made by ALSER. Ranging from the Big Bag, the cardboard Octabin to the tanks for large consumers. These are the usual types of packaging, however we are also open to the possibility of developing customised packaging at the customer’s request. In addition to labelling, special covers or other requirements.

All the material is subject to a final control of the quality and specifications agreed with the consumer / end processor as indicated in laboratory and tests.

The transport and distribution depends on the type of package, batch quantity and geographical area of delivery. ALSER is based in Iza/Pamplona in Navarra (north of Spain), a location which is close to the markets of central and southern Europe. This 2,000 km operating range gives the company a tremendous logistics advantage, due to the flexibility of movement with countries such as Germany, Belgium, Austria, Italy, France or Morocco. Finally, as the company is located in the Iberian Peninsula, for logistic purposes, ALSER is able to work with Spain and Portugal as a single logistics unit.

When exporting to countries that are further away, ocean containers are generally used for shipments to Turkey, China and Malaysia.
