Uses of ABS

.

This material, Acrylonitrile Butadiene Butadiene Styrene, better known as ABS, Medium Impact is a versatile polymer used in many different sectors. What distinguishes these recycled plastics from others is that they can be melted in their liquid form, cooled and reheated without causing too much damage to their chemical composition.

The most important feature of ABS is that it is very tough and does not burn, even at low temperatures (it is still tough at -40°C). It is also a hard and rigid material that is easily moulded.

At present, recycled ABS is not used for chrome plating, but our Quality Department is working on new compositions so that tomorrow we will be able to offer it to many sectors.

This material is developed using the emulsification process, which involves mixing multiple materials that do not combine in a particular way so that they come together as a single product.

Key characteristics of ABS

Other notable features include:

  • Chemical firmness
  • Low water absorption
  • Good dimensional stability
  • Optimum temperature resistance
  • Good abrasion resistance
  • Easily moulded
  • Lighter than metal
  • Withstands certain deformations

Uses of recycled plastic ABS

It is the ideal plastic candidate for recycling and creating new products from recycled plastics. Its applications are limitless but the most common uses include:

  1. Caps
  2. Capsules
  3. Boxes
  4. Housings
  5. Channels
  6. Connectors
  7. Trims

ABS at Alser

At the same time, this element located in our plastic recycling plant is produced in various colours thanks to the machinery and the capacity of the medium impact ABS material. These are: black, grey, white and its natural colour. Each of them has different characteristics of fluidity and impact and/or loads.

The materials and weights vary according to the quantities required for what is needed. On our website you will find all the information about the different sizes and their prices. See ABS technical data sheet.

The containers that stand out the most in this case are: Octabin, Big Bag and Cistern.
